MSDLT Curriculum Advisory Council Fall 2020 Recommendations November 30, 2020 Mr. Troy Knoderer Mr. Dan Kuznik
Background Each semester teachers at the secondary level are given opportunity to submit proposals for new course offerings and to request additional weight to existing courses; The proposals and requests are reviewed by respective department chairs and principals, and then submitted to the Curriculum Advisory Council for consideration; The Curriculum Advisory Council is made up of District Administration, Building Administration, School Counselors, and teacher representatives from the original Graduation Pathways Committee; LT continues to proactively explore how best to implement the new Graduation Pathways; Graduation Pathways is the new graduation requirement for Cohort 2023 (current 10thgraders); Graduation Pathways can also be used as an alternative graduation requirement for current 11thand 12thgraders (began with Cohort 2018).
Course Recommendations for Board Approval 5214 Health Science Education II: Pharmacy Recommended Grade: 12; Recommended prerequisites: Health Science Education I Credits: 2 semester course, 1-3 credits per semester; Counts as a Directed Elective or Elective for all diplomas; Course is aligned with a Graduation Pathway; Initiated due to a request from our partners at Community 4025 AP Art History Recommended Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12; Prerequisites: none; Credits: 2 semester course, 1 credit per semester; Counts as a Directed Elective or Elective for all diplomas; Fulfills a Fine Arts requirement for the Core 40 with Academic Honors Diploma; Course is aligned with a Graduation Pathway.
