Teachers relation with the cyber dimension of music before COVID19 - Distance teaching and performing were considered more as a field of research (experimental stage) with a non practical every day use. - Generally a poor use of digital / on line / cyber technology from the teachers - Lack of technological infrastructure and equipment at institutional and personal level - Lack of training on new technologies
The COVID 19 Shock Revolution Teaching - The need of an inmediate recovery of the educational process through the web, have forced ALL the teachers to have an active contact with the cyber space . - The need to use as efficiently as possible technological means for distance teaching has created multiple crash tests for the teachers - The institutions which didn t have any kind of infrastructures, were forced to react immediately and were able to cover only the basic needs of the lessons.
The COVID 19 Shock Revolution Music performance - The sudden lack of public concerts have forced free lancers and all kinds of music performance artists to start performing online. - Because of the quarantine measures all over the world, there was suddenly a huge demand of on line events. - A lot of younger performers had the opportunity to experiment with the new technological means. - Day after day, musicians and the audience became more familiar with the new online music platforms which were offering low latency possibilities (https://jamulus.io/, https://www.soundjack.eu, http://jamtaba.com, etc)
The COVID 19 Shock Revolution Music performance - After the first shock the orchestras, all kinds of chamber music ensembles and concert agencies (Public or Private) got used to this new situation and started using the web for their events. - The audience got familiar with a new, very different experience of music performance, than the traditional concert hall event. - The market found a new way to offer new products.
The cyber and online performance as an offical - new dimension of the instrumental teaching after the pandemic.
The new dimension of music instrument teaching - The teachers have to develop the awarness that follow the technological developments. It is a matter of life long learning process. Staying behind the developments means staying behind in general. - At least the basic use of cyber and distance performance technologies has to become a basic qualification of the new music teachers. - There is a need to develop new modules, covering fields such as: foundations of digital and cyber interfaces applied to music performance" New aesthetic in distance performance" (Musense Project Result 3)
What is an essential technical infrastructure after covid for the music education institutions which was not mentioned before covid19 crisis?
Post Covid19 essential technical infrastructure for music education institutions Following the example of the recording studios - Dedicated distance / cyber performance rooms - High performance internet connection - Low latency sound and picture transfer hardware and software - 360 cameras - Multiple displays and speakers - Dedicated human resourses operating the facilities and the equipment
