FAQ What is the N-configurator?
What is the N-configurator? Question? I usually used SYCON or PROFICON for the Profibus or DeviceNet communication setting. But the New type PNET/DNET module should be used N configurator for that. So my question is what is the N- configurator? 1
What is the N-configurator? LS have new setting tool which name is N-configurator. It is for Profibus and DeviceNet communication. New PNET and DNET modules(XGL-PMEB, XGL-DMEB) are released these days, so we should know about the new communication setting tool N-configurator . The previous version of PNET and DNET modules(XGL-PMEA, XGL-PMEB, XGL-DMEA) are used the different setting tools like SYCON or PROFICON. However we can set in the integrated tool N-configurator now. There are some differences that we should to know before changing it. It can be downloaded when XG5000 is downloaded from our website(www.lsis.com). To use the N Configurator, XG5000 version should be V4.11~ and N configurator version should be V3.1.0.2~. 2
What is the N-configurator? There are two tools for configuration. On the left side, this is the Sycon program. XGL-PMEA or XGL- DMEA should be the master of this setting. On the right side, this is N configurator program. It is similar with PROFICON program(XGL-PMEC, no more used PNET master module) and for this XGL-PMEB or XGL- DMEB should be the master of this communication configuration. What is the N-configurator? There is information of N configurator. - For the downloading for setting, N configurator can be used by RS-232C or USB in PLC CPU. (XGL-PMEA is used different port in XGL-PMEA module, the first port) - Configuration uploading is possible now. (XGL-PMEA/XGL-DMEA is only possible to download in SYCON. Uploading is not supported.) - The directory of the GSD or EDS file is different. (It is the same with the XG5000 - - It takes few minutes when N configurator is first used because of GSD or EDS is read at the first time. If there is no difference among the slaves, don t need to setting again in N configurator. But station number or the list of slaves is changed, please do the setting first in N configurator. - Many diagnosis options are supported in N configurator. - For more information, please check the Pnet, Dnet manual or guidebook. 4
