NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER SHOWN BY HOMELANDERS CHARACTER IN THE BOYS TV SERIES No. Abstract: ABS-24296 Tri Rahayu Mayasari, S.S, M.Hum Nur Ilham, S.S Universitas Nasional Jakarta
INTRODUCTION Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a mental disorder characterized by a pattern of an exaggerated sense of self-importance, an excessive need for admiration, a lack of empathy for others' feelings, and interpersonally exploitative behavior. The purpose of this research is to help the general public raise awareness about the disorder and its effects on both individuals and society. Narcissism is real. It needs to be dealt with.
LITERATURE REVIEW Narcissistic personality disorder: Diagnostic and clinical challenges by Caligor, Levy, & Yeomans (2015) Narcissistic personality disorder is a pattern of grandiosity in either fantasy or behavior. People who suffer from narcissistic personality disorder often have a strong need for admiration and praise from others, yet ironically, they tend to lack empathy for those around them. This theory is used to specifically identify and analyze the signs of Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
METHOD According to Palinkas (2014), the use of qualitative methods is that they are ideal for eliciting the perspectives of those being studied. Palinkas (2014) also added that qualitative methods serve to enhance the validity of data being collected because it enables the investigator to compare their own perception of reality with the perception of those who are being studied.
FINDING AND DISCUSSION His need for validation, dismissive attitude toward authority, and inability to admit potential flaws all contribute to the effects of NPD on his behavior and interactions. Homelander interactions are distinguished by a constant pattern of seeking validation, establishing control, and demonstrating a lack of empathy. Homelander's disorder's significantly impact his psychological state.
CONCLUSION All nine signs of narcissistic personality disorder proven on Homelander s personality. This condition has an effect on his interactions, relationships, and self-identity, resulting in manipulative tendencies, a lack of empathy, and an insatiable need for adulation. NPD's widespread effects are visible in his pursuit of power, control, and validation, indicating the substantial influence this personality disorder has on shaping his behaviors and views.
