CONSTITUTION OF ZIMBABWE The Constitution of Zimbabwe which was adopted in 2013 is progressive in terms of advancing women s rights, as it contains an expansive bill of rights, gender equality notions and specific and elaborate rights for women. Sections such as Section 17, Section 56, Section 80
SECTION 17: GENDER BALANCE (1) The State must promote full gender balance in Zimbabwean society, and in particular- (a)the State must promote the full participation of women in all spheres of Zimbabwean society on the basis of equality with men;
SPECIFIC PROVISIONS ON LAWS S17(1)(b) the State must take all measures, including legislative measures, needed to ensure that- (i)both genders are equally represented in all institutions and agencies of government at every level; and (ii) women constitute at least half the membership of all Commissions and other elective and appointed government bodies established by or under this Constitution or any Act of Parliament
AND (c) the State and all institutions and agencies of government at every level must take practical measures to ensure that women have access to resources, including land, on the basis of equality with men (2)The State must take positive measures to rectify gender discrimination and imbalances resulting from past practices and policies
NDS 1 The emphasis of the NDS1 is on Bold Strategies underpinned by Managing for Development Results. Macro-economic stability. Robust NDS1 Monitoring and Evaluation system. NDS1 I being implemented through the Integrated Results Based Management (IRBM) system.

NATIONAL GENDER POLICY The National Gender Policy provides a guiding framework for mainstreaming gender in all sectors of the economy. The National Gender Policy (NGP) reaffirms the commitment of the Government of Zimbabwe in advancing gender equality in line with regional and international instruments the country is party. The Policy responds the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa Agenda 2063. At national level, the NGP is aligned with the Constitution of Zimbabwe, which sets out legal rights to advance gender equality and women s rights; National Development Strategy (NDS) 1 (2021-2025)
NATIONAL GENDER POLICY The objectives of this Policy are ; i.To promote the advancement of gender equality and equity in all sectors, ii.To set out the national gender equality and women s empowerment priorities(2025-2030). iii.To provide a guiding framework for mainstreaming gender across all sectors, iv.To strengthen coordinated planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of gender mainstreaming and women s empowerment programmes across all sectors.
NATIONAL GENDER POLICY The revised National Gender Policy anchors gender equality and women empowerment initiatives and strategies to be considered across all sectors under the following 10 priority areas -;. oGender, Constitutional Rights, and Access to Justice. oGender, Politics and Decision-making oWomen s Economic Empowerment oGender and Energy oGender, Health and Pandemics oGender, Education and Training oGender-Based Violence (GBV), Culture and Religion oGender and Climate Change, Disaster Risk Management and Humanitarian Response. oGender and Disability Gender, Media, Information and Technologies
NATIONAL GENDER POLICY The 10 priority areas were considered as catalysts in the achievement of gender equality and women s empowerment within the 5 remaining years for the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals and the Country s Vision 2030.
POLICY COORDINATION, IMPLEMENTATION, MONITORING AND EVALUATION MECHANISMSHIEVEMENTS The policy highlights that mechanisms for policy coordination will be expanded in the National Gender Machinery Coordination Framework. Mechanisms for policy implementation, monitoring and evaluation will be expanded in the National Gender Policy Implementation Strategy, Monitoring and Evaluation Framework to be developed after the adoption of this policy.
OTHER POLICIES,STRATEGIES AND PLANS Zimbabwe National Strategy to Prevent and Address Gender-Based Violence (2023- 2030) for eliminating violence against women and girls, National Women in Leadership and Decision-Making Strategy 2023-2030 to increase women s participation and representation, National Action Plan on resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security( 2023) and the Zimbabwe Climate Change Gender Action Plan to promote gender equality in environmental sustainability, climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies Other sectoral policies, strategies and plans that are implemented by other MDAs such as Sexual harassment Policy, Disability Policy
