Where are we? Glasgow Clyde College Langside Campus Located in Southside Anniesland Campus located in the west end Cardonald Campus Located in the south west
What Are Your Options at College? Level of Course Advanced Courses Non- Advanced Courses National Certificates or Qualifications Levels 4, 5 & 6 Higher National Certificates or Diplomas HNC/HND
What Level of Course ? Entry Requirements Level 4 = Interest in the subject; good numeracy and literacy skills; good personal statement; Interview. Level 5 = between 3 and 4 National 4 qualifications; good personal statement; one reference and good personal statement. Level 6= 4 National 5 s (popular courses A/B); Good Personal Statement; Interview; One Reference HNC/HND = Minimum 1 or 2 Higher (popular course A/B) Strong Personal Statement; Information Sessions and 1:1 Interviews; some subject short tests.
What Subjects Can You study? Vocational Examples Engineering; Motor Vehicle; Fashion; Health and Social Care; Hairdressing; Sports & Fitness or Coaching; Travel & Tourism; Early Education and Childcare ; Computing Semi-Vocational Examples Business / Administration and IT / Sciences Non-Vocational Examples National 5 and Highers / Social Sciences
What About Progression? Further study at College Successful completion of an NC course will normally allow you to apply for the next level NC or HNC/D programme. Further study at University (Articulation) Many of the College s HNC and HND programmes will enable you to articulate to degree courses at Scottish Universities: HNC YEAR 2 HND Year 3 Depending on the course and university this is not always guaranteed and you may get entry to a lower year of entry Employment Successful completion of NC Level 6, HNC and/or HND can enable you to progress to jobs within your chosen sector.
The Application Process On-line application via college website You can make 2 course choices on the application (different subject and/or different levels) Short Personal Statement All Admissions contact is done via e-mail You can check application progress via College website My Application When to Apply: Courses starting January 2022 Oct / Nov 2021 Courses starting August 2022 January 2022
How do I choose which College and what course? Online research College websites Attend Open Days and Career events Check Entry Requirements Discuss with your school Careers Adviser/ Guidance Tutor Check that the course you decide to study will help you achieve your career goals and aspirations or articulate to your chosen degree course. Speak to the college staff eg Student Advice Team - details will be on college website
What else do I need to know? Student Finance College Bursary/EMA and Travel SAAS/SLC Young Student Bursary & Student Loan Information, Advice& Guidance Course information; Career Information Advice and Guidance; Job search and employment opportunities; student welfare; Care Experience Additional Support help and support for those needing help with Dyslexia or Dyspraxia; Sensory impairment anxiety or depression; Aspergers or Autism and any physical or personal issues that may effect your studies. Care Leavers/LAYP designated adviser in each campus and currently working with Action for Children
