  2. WHAT WEVE TACKLED 2015 Fall-2016 Spring The Big Push We took all existing hardcopy curriculum and loaded it into our new software system. The results were that we were prepared for the Peer Review Team during our 5 year mark accreditation year. 2016 Fall 2017 Spring Progression We have attached benchmarks for each curriculum map to show alignment with important state standards. We now have the capability to assess vertical alignment of the curriculum in each subject.

  4. ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS The first essential question you re asking is Why bother? What an excellent example because an essential question should accomplish the following: Generate thought Encompass a holistic view of the subject matter Create engagement and reveal what we re really dying to know

  5. THE TARGET Essential questions should meet this criteria: They are open-ended. If you can answer yes or no, it won t work. Explanation is necessary. They may be opinionated. Students can answer the same question with different responses. 1-4 questions per unit works.

  6. EXAMPLES IN CT These maps have wonderful examples of essential questions: 5thgrade science 4thgrade social studies K language arts Spanish 1A JH English Math 2 course JH Life Science 1&2 Library and Media

  7. BIBLICAL INTEGRATION Choose a unit that needs biblical integration. Click the pencil next to the unit name. Find the box marked biblical integration and click on the Bible icon above this box titled faith-learning.

  8. BIBLICAL INTEGRATION Select a program for your course (math, science, foreign language, etc.) Now choose a strand. Click appropriate boxes, and then click SAVE. You may add from different strands until you have 1-5 components for each unit.

RESOURCES AND ASSESSMENTS Open a curriculum map Go to any unit missing resources and click on the pencil beside the unit name And all resources that you use for that unit in the appropriate box Click save Open a curriculum map Go to any unit missing assessments and click on the pencil beside that unit name Add any assessment that you use for that unit such as HW, quizzes, test, project, etc. Click save HINT: Copy and paste may be your friend!

  12. FEBRUARY 2018 VERTICAL ALIGNMENT We will meet in departments to discuss vertical alignment (math and English). Our emphasis is specifically on the transition from upper elementary to junior high grades. We will evaluate content of the curriculum, expectations, and homework load at these levels. We will assess the standards and missing benchmarks for these grades.
