Welcome to the 2021 Head and Neck Cancer Patient and Caregiver Education Symposium
Introduction My name is Jenny Kwak and I have worked at Stanford Health Care for 14 years and am an Advanced Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I developed a role for Behavioral Health in Radiation Oncology. I provide brief therapy for cancer patients and offer caregiver support using evidenced based therapeutic modalities.

Caregiver Bill of Rights I have the right To take care of myself. This is not an act of selfishness. It will give me the capacity to take better care of my loved one. To maintain facets of my own life. To get angry, depressed, and express other difficult emotions. To receive consideration, affection, forgiveness, and acceptance. To protect my individuality and my right to make a life for myself that will sustain me.
IMPROVE the Moment- a DBT skill I Imagery is powerful. Imagine yourself in nature, on a beach or in the forest M- Meaning motivates and your purpose will drive action P- Prayer provides connection, peace, guidance and a ritual that calms- it can serve you anytime no matter what your faith R- Relaxation- what do you do to relax or find relaxing- and engage in those behaviors every day O- One Thing, or Moment at a time. Slow down and focus. V- Vacation means taking a break and plan it ahead- can be brief or scheduled well in advance. E- Encouragement is needed! Coach yourself and write down your affirmations. Ex I got this! All Crises Pass.
