  1. NEW IB SCHEDULE June 2022

  2. WHY? - We review all our schedules regularly as better data becomes available - We have been working with IBO to obtain finer-grained data about the performance of IB students to inform a new schedule that is fairer for all students - This is not happening in response to reports in the media - This is a schedule used in other states so agreement has been reached nationally on this change

  3. MORE GRADATIONS TO BE ADDED The current schedule has limited mapping points because of the coarseness of reported DP grades (1 7) The result is that we can better differentiate between DP students on the same overall DP score. Currently each IB grade in a particular subject covers a range of marks. For the new score we will take into account the mark underlying the grade. In doing so, students with higher underlying marks may receive a better rank than students who are on the same grade but have a lower mark. Overall DP score will not change but extra gradations between each DP score will be introduced.

  4. IMPLEMENTATION The IB will advise IB result to students including percentage marks for each subject IB DP score UAC will calculate and advise the new finer-grained score; the International Baccalaureate Admission Score (IBAS) This score will be used to derive the admissions rank as per the new schedule This rank will be the basis of the UAC Selection Rank (which includes adjustments)

  5. CONSEQUENCES OF THE CHANGE Approx 60% of students will retain the same rank Approx 25% of students ranks will go up Approx 15% of students ranks will go down The new schedule shouldn t have a significant impact on DP students competitiveness The new schedule shouldn t impact Year 10 subject choice or the choice of the DP over a state qualification The IB Diploma is held in high regard in terms of university admissions and the new schedule is not intended to undermine the DP in any way

  6. PERCENTAGE DIFFERENCE PER RANK Diploma score 45 44 43 42 41 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 Total Decrease Same Increase 51% 43% 20% 17% 24% 14% 18% 13% 12% 13% 7% 8% 14% 10% 6% 9% 8% 14% 4% 6% 7% 3% 13% 49% 57% 56% 56% 55% 65% 51% 64% 57% 64% 62% 66% 55% 57% 54% 56% 49% 51% 58% 58% 57% 57% 58% 0% 0% 25% 27% 21% 21% 31% 23% 31% 22% 32% 26% 30% 32% 40% 35% 43% 35% 37% 36% 36% 41% 29%
