Gods new season brings a new way to His never-failing power Acts 1:4-5, 2:1-45
His way to new power will: - confuse you - offend you - make you wait He will ask you to surrender what you think a good life is
We see our church filled with mobilized members who love helping others follow Jesus together Acts 2:1-45
Acts 1-2 Jesus has left them in the middle of racism, hate, violence, propaganda, chaos and politics . . . things desperately need to change.
Jesus gave them this command: Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised . . . for John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. - Acts 1:4-5
When the Day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place [praying and worshiping]. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. . . - Acts 2:1-2
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. At this sound the multitude came together and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. - Acts 2:4,6
And they were amazed and astonished, saying, Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia . . . - Acts 2:7-9
. . . both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God. And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, What does this mean? But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine. - Acts 2:9-13
Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and said . . . this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh . . . - Acts 2:14,16-17
. . . God raised Jesus up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it. . . Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. . . - Acts 2:24, 38
With many other words Peter warned the crowd and pleaded with them, Save yourselves from this corrupt generation. Those who accepted the Gospel message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. - Acts 2:40-41
They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. - Acts 2:42-43
All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. - Acts 2:44-45
They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. - Acts 2:46-47
The first disciples followed Jesus together in a new way to live in never-failing power
Following Jesus Together Through Prayer
They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. - Acts 1:14
And Jesus said. . . dont you think God will surely give justice to His chosen people who cry out to Him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, He will grant justice to them quickly! - Luke 18:7-8 (NLT)
Following Jesus Together Not Busyness
Following Jesus Together In Unity
