NFR 10-Year Grant Updates Jun 23, 2021 Escalator: Budget 2021 included approval for an annual NFR 10-Year Grant escalator Treasury Board approval for the escalator is scheduled for September 2021 The escalator will be formula based and will be driven by on reserve population and inflation The minimum escalator will be 2% per year The escalator will be applied to all programs other than Education K-12 as this has its own funding methodology The escalator will be applied from Year 2 of the Grant The escalator will be applied from April 1st2021 At present there is no retroactive escalator from April 2020 BC Region is working with programs and our HQ colleagues to address any funding shortfalls that the Grant entrants of April 2019 (those now in Year 3) may have for 2020-21 (Year 2 of their Funding Agreement), due to there being no escalator for that fiscal year. More information to follow on this.

NFR 10-Year Grant Updates Jun 23, 2021 New Grants for 2022-23: ISC will provide formal outreach on the Grant for those First Nations who are interested in entry for April 2022 An expression of interest from a First Nation, either by letter or e-mail to the department, will be all that is required to start the process. You can forward it to your FSO, FS Manager or the DFS. No formal BCR will be required ISC will have outreach materials available, such as a letter outlining the process and requirements and a Frequently Asked Questions document ISC staff will be available to any First Nations interested in the Grant, to provide a presentation on its specifics and any related questions

  5. NFR 10-Year Grant Updates Jun 23, 2021 Aggregates: At this point there is no further update on Aggregate organizations i.e. Tribal Councils, regarding their eligibility for the Grant. We are interested in hearing from individuals and organizations involved in aggregates that are also looking at entering a Grant to better understand your situation. This will enable us to better inform our headquarters colleagues about the challenges and opportunities.
