A Quarterly Overview Report 1 February to 30 April 2016
Quarterly Update: 1 Feb to 30 April 2016 Issues Arising: Urgent Hearings 11 applications for urgent hearings filed with the Waitangi Tribunal objecting to the Crowns recognition of the NTB Deed of mandate. The Board provide extensive evidence and affidavits in response Dec 2015 to April 2016. Urgent hearings granted 2 May 2016 Refined formulation of the issues to be inquired into 26 May 2016 Next steps: Legal Counsel Statement of Issues to be drafted by Friday 1 July 2016 Judicial Teleconference Tuesday 12 July 2016 to discuss: Draft statement of Issues Any outstanding issues relating to discovery/disclosure; and Possible timeframes for hearings and filing of evidence
Quarterly Update: 1 Feb to 30 April 2016 Points of Interest: Terms of Negotiations Phase The Ngatiwai Trust Board: considered DRAFT Terms of Negotiations proposed by OTS and sought professional advce. considered and provided feedback on Terms of Reference for all the supporting structues set out in the DoM. Called for and received expressions of interest from members of Ngatiwai Kaumatua, Hapu and Marae to participate in a Negotiator interview panel. Prepared a recruitment process for two further negotiators to complete the negotiations team (in addition to the Boards Negotiator). A number of overlapping claims issues have come to the attention of the Board including: Crown offer of cultural redress to Ngati Paoa of Te Haupa (Saddle Island) for vest and vest back A request from Ngati Rehua Ngatiwai ki Aotea to engage with the Board to disucss overlapping claims issues within its Area of Intrest with a view to initialling a deed of settlement with the Crown in 2016 Timeframe for completion of ToN now expected to be 31 October 2016
