NHS England SEND Awards 2024 Nomination Guidance
NHS England National SEND Awards Information and guidance for submitting a nomination for an award The closing date for nominations is 15th January 2024 The submission method is by online form but please do contact us at england.send-team@nhs.net if the form is not accessible for you and an alternative submission method can be agreed After submission, your nomination will be subject to a pre-shortlisting exercise to ensure the criteria has been met Your submission will then be scored by a judging panel consisting of a member of the NHS England National SEND team, a child or young person, a parent or carer, an external organisation member (such as DfE) and then shortlisted. Shortlisted submissions will then go to a Senior Panel for finalist selection Successful finalists will be contacted by 12th February 2024 with an invitation to the awards in person in London on 12th March 2024 2
NHS England National SEND Awards Information and guidance for submitting a nomination for an award To nominate for an award, please click the link included in this pack Please read the criteria for each award carefully, so this can be described and evidenced in your nomination submission Ensure you are applying for the most suitable award for an individual, team or project. It might be helpful to read the criteria enclosed for ALL the awards before deciding which one is most suitable Write free from jargon/ abbreviation Tell a good story, providing as much detail as possible Make an impact and stand out from others Think about (where appropriate) how work was implemented, including overcoming any barriers Think about outlining the effects that the initiative has on children & young people and/or families with SEND Explain clear objectives about what was achieved and the relevance of this to SEND Get the whole team/s involved Complete your form ahead of the closing date, this will give you time to ask questions and resolve any queries Keep to the word count limit 500 Check your application thoroughly before submitting as you cannot make amendments once sent 3

A brief description of the reasons for nomination How did they overcome difficulties to achieve their aspirations or supported others to achieve? How did they contribute to changes locally through sharing their lived experience? Personal Impact made Child Hero Award This is open for nominations for a young person in or equivalent to year 10 to aged 25 A brief description of the reasons for nomination How did they overcome difficulties to achieve their aspirations or supported others to achieve? How did they contribute to changes locally through sharing their lived experience? Personal Impact made Young Person Hero Award This is open for nominations for staff team(s) from Alternative Provision and health clinical teams (therapies and Mental health etc ) where there is evidence of joint working in partnership to improve holistic outcomes and experiences for children and young people Details of a project, piece of work or personal achievement Evidence of joint working in partnership to improve holistic outcomes and experiences for children and young people Evidence of impact on young people's health outcomes in alternative provision Evidence of impact and support to alternative provision staff Health and Alternative Provision Partnership Award 4 More Award Categories on Next Slides

Details of a project, piece of work or personal achievement Please describe evidence of full co-production, its impact and how parents were equal partners from the very beginning to the end of a project How parent/carer representatives provided the views of local parent/carer community Parent Carer co- production Award This nomination is a joint award open to systems who have worked effectively in co-production with children and young people 0-25 with SEND that leads to a stronger voice for children and young people locally recognising lived experience Details of a project, piece of work or personal achievement Evidence of full co-production, it's impact & working with children and young people as equal partners from the very beginning to the end of a project How children and young person representatives provided the views of the local children and young person community Children and Young People co- production Award This nominations is open to Inspirational SEND leaders.
