  3. What or who is NICaN? NICaN model Strategic Clinical Networks bring together those who use, provide and commission the service to make improvements in quality and equity of care . NICaN Chair, reps from : Dept of Health, HSCB, PHA, Directors of services Trusts/ HSCB/ NICaN medical team and network manager, charity , patient experience reps NICaN Board Medical Director, Primary Care Medical Director (Yvonne McGivern), Lead Nurse Consultant, NICaN Manager, NICAN Clinical Group Coordinators (2), RISOH Project Mgr. NICaN Team Tumour site clinical groups (12) Breast, Brain and CNS, Colorectal, Endocrine, Gynae, Head and neck, Lung, Sarcoma, Skin, Thyroid, Upper GI, Urology, Cross themed groups (n=6) Surgery, SACT, Radiotherapy, Pharmacy, AHP, Teenage and Young Adult. Potentially primary care Strategic & operational stakeholders /partners DoH, HSCB, PHA, Trusts, charities, academia, patients, linkage with cancer orgs and services across UK.

My Role To promote and provide primary care advice To engage in the redesign of specific cancer referral and diagnostic pathways To work in alliance with primary and secondary care To engage with GPs and liaise with GP federations, Integrated Care Partnerships, RCGP, NIGPC To act as a focal point for all primary care communications To engage with the Cancer Strategy To facilitate education on cancer

NICaN Involvement during Covid Regional guidelines for each tumour site Cancer diagnostics prioritisation - in partnership with Modernising Radiology Clinical Network Faecal immunochemical Testing (FIT) Surgery prioritisation. Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment guidance Radiotherapy guidance Covid testing advice to regional protocol development COVID patient priority recording /safety netting Communication patients and clinicians
