  2. Lessons Learned Prepare Now and Take-Action Everyday Understand what is required and implement policies now that produce documentation that is easy to collect later. Involve your campus experts like Office of Institutional Equity, Disability Services, Human Resources, etc. Create clear guidelines that are shared regularly with employees about your expectations and how you plan to meet the requirements. Learn from the Past Implement a process of annually reviewing your last review. Work on action items and monitor/update all items. Create an annual checklist to help guide your actions over the year. 2

  3. Lessons Learned Know Where the Regs Are and What they Say Understand your requirements and make sure others know them. Connect them to your expectations and policies. Share Information Share information with staff and faculty about how to report discrimination and document how you do this. Make sure staff and faculty know to forward information about trainings they attend that might meet the requirements (discrimination, etc.). Create standards and expectations for all external facing marketing materials to include nondiscrimination statements. 3

  4. Lessons Learned Other Document, Document, Document Take advantage of your resources Attend NIFA quarterly Title IX Coordinator meetings and bimonthly civil rights training webinars. Create internal deadlines for collecting data and be sure to leave time for people to be out of the office. Create a folder system to gather and store information for each area of review section and subsection. Assign a lead to be responsible for each subsection at first meeting. 4
