NIGMS Support for IDeA State Students at MSRP
The Institutional Development Award (IDeA) Program aims to enhance NIH research funding distribution and strengthen research capacity in eligible states. The program includes various funding initiatives such as COBRE, INBRE, IDeA-CTR, co-funding opportunities, and Regional Technology Transfer Accelerator Hubs. It encourages students from IDeA states to participate and provides support for their research endeavors. NIGMS offers additional support through the MRSP, assisting students in pursuing research opportunities and attending key conferences.

NIGMS Support for IDeA State Students @ MSRP (i-MRSP) The IDeA program encourages students from all IDeA state medical schools, and students from IDeA states but attend medical schools in other states through state-sponsored programs, to apply. IDeA program principal investigators (PIs), including the IDeA State Clinical and Translational Research Award PIs, are encouraged to provide help to the applicants, e.g., writing recommendation letters. After selections made by the MRSP, NIGMS will provide additional funds to support up to 5 students from IDeA states on the waiting list each year. MRSP scholars will be invited to attend National IDeA Research Conference in June 2010 and/or Joint IDeA PI meeting in 2021. MRSP scholars will have the opportunity to participate in research supported by IDeA awards after the one year stay at the NIH.
