The crucial role of editors in nurturing investigative journalists Editors can guide and mentor reporters to venture into investigative journalism. Editors can support journalists- help to develop and refine story ideas , and investigative techniques Can also assist in verification of information and fact-checking by contacting inaccessible contacts and sources. Ensures the safety and security of the team- by providing legal advice and conducting risk assessments. Constant follow-ups and updates during all the production stages-also important for those based in counties.
Continued. Mental health- editors can help by providing emotional support and managing stress through the story production process. Constantly affirming your reporters and their ability to do the job Upholding high standards of integrity when faced with temptations like bribes and payments to kill a story. Supporting your team when faced with backlash from the villains in the story ( especially after publishing the story)
Producing Fertile Deception Key areas of collaboration with my supervisors and editors and how this helped in verification of facts and mitigation of security threats.
