In 2016, the AAMFT Restructuring Vote was passed mandating all state Divisions dissolve as independent entities and become part of AAMFT s. In response, NYAMFT chose to join AAMFT as an Interest Network. The Strategic Transition Committee was formed to create a Restructuring Plan and implement the restructuring.
The Strategy Transition Committee: Emma Viglucci, co-chair Victoria Sotelo, co-chair Carol Podgorski Dana Galante The Committee has been instrumental in developing: The Restructuring and 2018 Annual Plan and Budget The Restructuring Chart Applying and being approved as the Interest Network Group with AAMFT Overseeing the Dissolution Process Implementing the Restructuring Plan and Transitioning into the Interest Network
Our Interest Network Groups name is: New York Marriage & Family Therapy Network ( NYMFTN) It is officially start operating as the new group on June 1, 2018, but has been restructuring and transitioning since the new year as the leadership has changed with end of terms (all chapter presidents concluded their terms). We are currently operating as two parallel entities until NYAMFT is fully dissolved. We have acquired Legal Council (Gertler Law Group) to advise and assist with the dissolution of our 501(c)(6). NYAMFT Board voted on in April 2018 to move forward with the Dissolution and Transition.
Leadership Succession Plan includes grandfathering the remaining NYAMFT leadership and self-identified leaders into positions at the Executive Core Leadership level of the NYMFTN for one year. The Network is to hold elections in the fall of 2018 with staggered terms starting in 2019. Refer to the Nominations flyer at the Network Station. The NYAMFT Chapters and Committees have been reorganized into the NYMFTN as 3 Distinct Divisions .
