Changes Office of Assessment and Planning for SEES November 2018
Implementing Change Program assessment does not end with presenting the data and writing a report. In order to benefit from all of your hard work you have to put your findings to use! Use your findings to figure out how you will achieve desired outcomes Your findings tell you what is and is not working. If you completed a pre and post-test, use that information to see if you are ready to move forward with outcome assessment. Emphasize the connections between your program and your goals The connection should be evidence-based. When implementing change, you should have enough data to support that the change you are making will have a positive impact on your program. 2
The Stages of Implementing Change Understand and Communicate the Rationale When making any change to a program or service, it is important that you fully understand why the change is being made and what you are going to do to ensure change is implemented smoothly. It is important to be transparent about your goals when changing your programing and services. 3
The Stages of Implementing Change Implement Change in Phases If possible, change the program/services in phases so you can monitor differences in real time. A complete overhaul could leave room for costly implementation errors. 4
The Stages of Implementing Change Evaluate, Review, Report, Re-Evaluate Program/service improvement is an ongoing process There will always be room for improvement. Monitor your implementation fidelity and program effectiveness through reinforcement and revision. 5
Keep In Mind Your program/services will not change just because you have taken the steps to assess it. Use your findings to discover new ways to improve your program/services. Assessment is just a tool to help you better understand your program and, in turn, make changes that will have a positive impact on student learning! Analyze What are the trends in your assessment?
