Ohioans paid $4,856 per capita on average in state and local taxes in FY 2020 Combined State and Local Taxes, FY 2020 Ohio s combined state and local tax burden, measured by taxes per capita, was $4,856 in FY 2020. This was lower than the national average but higher than in neighboring states except Pennsylvania. Per-capita taxes in the 50 states ranged from $9,914 (New York) to $3,734 (Tennessee).
