Ohioans paid $5,340 per capita on average in state and local taxes in FY 2021 Combined State and Local Taxes, FY 2021 Ohio s combined state and local tax burden, measured by taxes per capita, was $5,340 in FY 2021. This was lower than the national average but higher than in neighboring states except Pennsylvania and Indiana. Per-capita taxes in the 50 states ranged from $10,199 (New York) to $4,179 (Alaska).
