Oliver Cromwell was a significant figure in British history, living in the 17th century. He was a general, politician, and Lord Protector, known for his leadership during the English Civil War. Cromwell ruled England, Scotland, and Ireland for a brief period, and is remembered for his Puritan beliefs and role in the New Model Army. He famously requested to be painted accurately, without any flattery. After his death, the British monarchy was restored under Charles II. Cromwell's burial place is in Westminster Abbey.
