COLLEGE DEANS AWARDS Award Tinker Hatfield Award for Innovation: major innovative, collaborative project Award Amounts Eligibility One Award Max: $25,000 All faculty Scandinavian Design Award: exploring impact of mid-century modernist design One Award Max: $10,000 All faculty Dean s Award: research or creative work One Award Max: $4,500 One Award Max: $4,500 One Award Max: $4,500 One Award Max: $4,500 Pre-tenured faculty only Post-tenure faculty only All faculty Finrow: research or creative work Board Fellowship: working with students on a team-oriented project Frances Bronet Innovation Award: research or creative work All faculty
NOTES ON AWARDS For Tenure Track Faculty Faculty who received awards in Spring 2023 are not eligible for these awards Dean s Award Finrow Board Fellowship Frances Bronet Innovation Award Eligibility for Hatfield and Scan Design Awards Not open to prior Hatfield/Scan Design Award winners Open to other faculty (including smaller award winners) Not Eligible: Faculty who resigned, retired, or entered TRP Not under contract by May 2024 Not for dissertation research Not for study abroad programs Faculty who have not reported on past award activity
APPLICATION PACKET Must submit as a single PDF: Cover page Applicants Award(s) (1 or more) Budget page Person responsible for grant management Budget item + funding source 500 word description project Optional: 2 pages of supporting images 2 page CV Optional: collaborator names/commitments Due December 18: Email to Camie Foos Reviewed by Faculty Advisory Committee Announcement in February Spending: award date until to June 15 2025
The quality of the proposal in relation to the award criteria The completeness of the information in the description and budget REVIEW CRITERIA The likely success given budget and timeline The anticipated outcomes and impact of the project or future work
NOTES & TIPS Quality and Completeness Speak to an interdisciplinary set of colleagues Align your work with the award criteria Success and Impact Be realistic with time and budget Highlight short term (products) and long term (series of works, book, external proposal, etc) Budget Don t exceed award without documenting other sources Explain scenario if other source does not come through
