Participation in Living Well - This document outlines the establishment and operation of a Human Rights Committee (HRC) consortium between Aptiv Inc. and Opportunity Development Centers, Inc. The purpose of the HRC is to protect the rights of individuals supported by these organizations and prevent unnecessary rights restrictions. We believe that all citizens have the right to due process and equal protection. People with disabilities are entitled to exercise their rights on an equal basis with others. This includes exercising their civil, political, social, economic and cultural rights Agency Collaboration

The purpose of a Human Rights Committee (HRC) is to ensure that the rights of people supported by either Aptiv or ODC are protected and to prevent unnecessary or arbitrary rights restrictions.

Role and Responsibilities of the committee Ensure that any rights limitations presented are considered the least restrictive, alternatives have been tried and any restriction or limitation is temporary in nature. Always presume competence Protect the due process rights of a person receiving services and supports through Aptiv or ODC

Voluntary 6 - 10 members Two-year terms Membership to include: A person receiving services from the provider agency A family member of a person with a disability Community professional with expertise in behavioral, medical or legal fields Representative from a managed care organization Provider staff Two self-advocates who retain voting rights Two additional staff members with only one voting member per agency Committee Committee Membership Membership

Successes and Barriers We made the commitment and had a very ambitious time-line to have our committee up and running by 1stquarter of 2023 and while we didn t meet our initial goal, we are close to the finish line, the framework is in place and currently recruiting members Use the HRC Committee Charter to keep you on track Start small - make adjustments as needed In looking at our internal behavior support plans, it is not a gotcha this is a learning opportunity to do better
