Optimizing Resources with IRIS: Capacity Planning Insights
Discover how IRIS efficiently delivers and manages resources by leveraging existing infrastructures, providing a wide range of CPU cores, disk storage, and access to AI and HPC clusters. Explore the accuracy of RSAP requests, users of IRIS CPU, and future capacity projections with existing funding. Learn more about IRIS and access data at accounting.iris.ac.uk.

Capacity Planning and Resource Usage Philip Jackson - IRIS PM philip.jackson@stfc.ac.uk
How does IRIS deliver resources? The IRIS model is to buy into existing infrastructures. This allows us to strengthen our DRI provider partners and further develop the great spirit of cooperation that already exists within the UK s DRI community. This gives us a highly varied and flexible set of resources to allocate to our partner scientific activities. We can use existing governance structures and systems to minimise re-inventing the wheel.
What does IRIS have now? Currently raw IRIS resources in production 20,786 physical CPU cores 13,881 TB of disk storage 23 high memory nodes (1.5-3TB per node) IRIS also has some access to: PEARL AI system https://www.turing.ac.uk/research/asg/pearl SCARF HPC cluster https://www.scarf.rl.ac.uk/ Wilkes 2 GPU Cluster https://www.hpc.cam.ac.uk/systems/wilkes-2
How accurately do RSAP requests/allocations predict need and usage?
