Overview: Status of the civil registration system: Estimated birth registration completeness for the most recent years 2018 : 88.8% Estimated completeness for Births=Number of births registered within one year of occurrence/ Number of births estimated by most recent census*100 Estimated completeness for Deaths =Births=Number of deaths registered within one year of occurrence/ Number of births estimated by most recent census*100 Estimated death registration completeness for the most recent year 2018: 83.5%

  6. Role of the health sector in supporting civil registration functions Births. Notification of Births from the Hospital given to a family member Deaths. The Hospital notifies the Registry of BDM. Monthly report on births and deaths occurred each month

  7. Use of civil registration data to confirm/ validate legal identity 1. Do you share birth and death data collected through civil registration to other government departments ? Nauru Electoral Commission Child Protection Unit Nauru Police Force Education Department Nauru Lands Committee Bendigo Bank Agency Curator officer for Personalty/Realty 2. Please share any challenges/ relevant experiences surrounding the sharing of such data The Data saved in the server can be access by ICT

  8. Record capture, storage and Archival 1. Does your country operate a manual or electronic system of data capture and storage for civil registration functions? I would say our system is manual when we register births and deaths. The hospital issue the birth & death notice include cases occurs outside the hospital. Record each even in a separate register book Enter information in the Excel spreadsheet saved in the computer server. Births and Deaths published in Gazette notices from 1921 2. If electronic: Provide name of IT system in use: SOCIUS Are individual birth records linked to death records? (i.e. is the system person-based or event based?) No. 3. Do you use a unique identification number/code for civil registration records If yes, how is it generated, what is the structure of the number/code? Yes there is unique number that generated from database Each birth and death was given a folio no. when the event is registered. Example: No. of birth/Year of birth 4. the code used by other government departments, if yes, which ones? No but it use on National identification card. The folio no. is use by the Registry only.

Please share your country s status and plans for implementation of a national ID system Section 80 of the BDMR Act 2017 provides National Identity Codes. 2. Is the national ID system linked to the civil registration system (do birth and death records from civil registration flow into the national ID system)? 3. Please share any relevant experiences/challenges associated with this theme Name of person use other legal document and in work files are not the names recorded in the persons birth registration.

Please share any of your recent developments or short-term plans towards the development of your CRVS systems New regulations provided under the BDMR Act 2017 Application to Register Births Application to Register Deaths Application to access Births registration Application to access Deaths registration Change of Name Tuvalu Registry and BDM Nauru managed to register 70 Tuvaluans born in Nauru and were not registered.
