PRACTICE TIMES/LOCATION Grades 9 -12 start date: 3/10 Optional for 7th/8th(if want chance to play JV/Varsity, you should attend) Practice location: Black Gym when inside/Field A13 & A14 when outside Practice times: 3:45 5:45* *Week 1 will start with softball camp from 3:30 5 and practice until 6 Times may be shortened/adjusted after games start Grades 7 8 start date: 3/17 Practice location: Black Gym when inside/Lincoln Field when outside Practice times: 3:30 5:00 (M/Tu/Th/F)
PRACTICE INFO Always have outside clothing. We may go outside for part of a practice for fly balls, etc. when weather isn t perfect Be on-time Should be ready to practice at start time (not just arriving to gym/field) Tardiness will have consequences determined by coaches Injured players are expected to attend practice Wednesdays: Practice should not interfere with religion Practice attire: black softball pants, long socks, GSL colored (gray, black or purple) t-shirt/sweatshirt

PLAYING TIME Varsity: No guaranteed playing time JV: All will receive some playing time throughout season but may not be equal 7th/8thgrade: All will receive some playing time throughout season Some players may be moved up 1-2 levels May play ahead of older players Player development
BUS Riding the bus is a privilege We will leave the bus cleaner than we found it Everyone will help carrying equipment on and off the bus Players will need to sign scorebook to ride home with their parent
PLAYING TIME QUESTIONS Players should talk to the coach first Should be done after practice or at a scheduled time No conversations after a game 24-hour rule Player should think about what she wants to discuss If player not satisfied with the meeting, a time will be set up with player, coaches and parents If the situation is not solved, a meeting with the player, parents, coaches and Dean Schwirtz will take place Keep in mind what is best for the team
EQUIPMENT See previous slide for practice All players need to purchase own softball pants plain black Socks 2 colors: purple and black Undershirts black
PHILOSOPHY It is going to be different Goals/purpose My passion is to not only make you all great softball players but successful adults through hard work, discipline and grit Grit is a personality trait characterized by perseverance and passion for achieving long-term goals. It entails maintaining effort and interest over time despite failures, adversities and plateaus in progress. The little things matter Not only teaching softball, but life skills Be on time, give 100%, be tough, focus on the details, be a team player
EXPECTATIONS Get good grades and treat teachers/staff with respect Give 100% effort Do the little things Shirts tucked in, running through the bases, sprinting on/off field, etc No arguing/yelling/questioning umpires. Coaches will have conversations with umpires.
