What Does It All Mean? Statistics is the study of statistics The study of data started in the 1600s in England Data is the plural of datum Your whole life is composed of data Every day from the time you awake to sleep data rules your life Weather reports, school start times, clothes you wear, even music Everything is determined by data, for bad or good In order to understand Statistics, you must understand data
Statisticians Understand Data Statisticians usually have a broad education of Statistics Some Statisticians are specialists in a specific area of Statistics All Data Analysts have studied Statistics In order to understand data, one must understand origination In companies, Statisticians are usually a normal employee If you have a background in Statistics, it can only help you What do you need to do to get that background This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY

Internships Companies love to cultivate data analysts Really cultivating a love of Statistics Statistics is becoming more important as more data is available Everything can be analyzed from cell phone statistics to medical codes The one area that needs immense employment is called churn Churn is when one customer goes to another company Why? Examples of Data? Summary Statistics is the study of data Learning Statistics demands learning probability Education is as simple as clicking on a link Internships in data analytics are out there You must love analyzing data otherwise forget it Don t love math that is okay Statistics is not mathematics, it uses it Must ask the right questions
