PCSE End of year NHS pensions process PCSE Online has been a useful tool for GP Pensions scheme members and Employers to submit their end of year pensions forms. It pre-populates any information PCSE already holds, performs calculation based on values entered and validates the forms for any missing information upon submission. Since the launch of the GP Pensions services in PCSE Online, NHS Pensions has provided PCSE with annual Type 1 and Type 2 forms and PCSE has incorporated the forms into PCSE Online, allowing GPs and their representatives to complete them directly in the online system. Unfortunately, this has not been possible this year. Largely due to substantial changes to the 2023/24 Type 1 and Type 2 forms, that require significant system development, it has not been possible to incorporate this year s forms into PCSE Online. To meet the 28 February 2025 deadline, GP Pension Scheme Members and their representatives are advised to submit their 2023/24 Type 1 and Type 2 forms via PCSE Contact Us. PCSE has provided guidance below. Any Type 1 and Type 2 forms from previous years, that you have not completed, can be submitted using PCSE Online as normal. NHS Pensions, NHS England and PCSE are working together on a plan for the 2024/25 forms to ensure they will be available on PCSE Online in good time for the 2026 submission deadline..
PCSE guidance for submitting 23/24 pension forms We can confirm that NHS Pensions has now published the following pensions forms and the associated guidance: 2023/24 Type 1 GP (and non-GP) Providers Annual Certificate of Pensionable Profits 2023/24 Type 2 Medical Practitioner Self-Assessment of Tiered Contributions The relevant form(s) must be completed by GP Pension Scheme Members who have undertaken pensionable work, between 01 April 2023 and 31 March 2024, and should be submitted to PCSE from 9 December 2024 and no later than 28 February 2025. To meet the 28 February 2025 deadline, GP Pension Scheme Members and their representatives are advised to submit their 2023/24 Type 1 and Type 2 forms following the steps below: 1) Download the appropriate 2023/24 form and guidance from the NHS Pensions website: NHS Pensions Member Hub 2) Complete the form, following the NHS Pensions guidance 3) Submit the form on the PCSE Website: PCSE Contact Us by 28 Feb 2025 4) You will receive a case reference when PCSE has received your form 5) PCSE will contact you when your form(s) has been successfully reconciled, or let you know if we need further information PCSE will aim to process all complete and accurate Pension forms, received by the 28 February deadline, in time for the June cut-off for NHS Pensions to update your record. You could be contacted at any time up to this date to advise that your form has been successfully reconciled, or to request additional information.
PCSE Supply chain update We have been made aware there are residual supply chain issues with the following items: FTR471 - Safety hypodermic needle 23g Blue x 25mm Sterile due to long-running supplier issues, this item will be removed from the catalogue, all outstanding orders will be fulfilled with a clinically approved replacement alternative product. For future orders, we expect the alternative will be communicated in the coming weeks. KFK254 - Blood collection set Safety 23G blue needle 18cm tube with safety lock & leur adaptor - demand managed by supplier, all orders will be fulfilled when stock is delivered to us For further updates on these products, please see the noticeboard on PCSE Online. PCSE have been working with the supplier to ascertain when stock will be available and in what quantities. Currently restrictions apply until further notices. We advise all our users to refrain from submitting duplicate orders. Any duplicate orders submitted for the same item may be cancelled to ensure available stock is shared appropriately. Practices should seek guidance from your ICB for any alternative items. Alternatives will require a clinical review at the practice to assess suitability.
PCSE Releasing medical records best practice When a patient is deducted from a practice, their paper medical record will either follow them to their new practice, or be sent to our central records storage facility if the patient is not registered at a new practice. To enable the medical record to be moved correctly, a tracking label is automatically generated and sent to the deducting practice. As best practice, we advise practices to release the records as soon as possible. Please note, there is approximately 3-4 weeks between the date of deduction and the label being received at the practice. If your practice has an urgent clinical need to access information in a medical record, PCSE can facilitate contact between you and a patient s previous GP, to ensure the details needed get to the relevant clinician in good time. This process does not move the paper record any quicker. To request an urgent medical record, click here. The form is quick and easy to complete, and will get the request straight to the team to process. It will also validate the information as it is completed, ensuring that all necessary information is captured correctly, minimising the likeliness for rejections.
PCSE Medical record requests from members of the public Living patients GP Practices are responsible for responding to subject access requests (SAR) for the medical records of their registered patients. PCSE only process medical record access requests for living individuals who are not currently registered with a Practice in England. If a Practice has a clinically urgent need for a patient's records, please submit an urgent medical record request to PCSE here. Deceased patients Practices are required to respond to Access to Health Records Act (AHRA) requests for deceased patients and action accordingly. PCSE will only administer requests for deceased individuals whose last registered Practice is now closed. Useful information and guidance can be found on our dedicated webpage and FAQs. Alternatively you can find advice in the NHS England guidance here. If you work at a Practice and are still unsure of what steps to take, please contact your ICB/Commissioner.
PCSE GP Practice videos This year, we've hosted several webinars tailored for GP practices and their staff, offering guidance and support across various processes such as patient registrations, performer lists, and GP pensions tasks. You can access the full recordings of these webinars on our PCSE YouTube channel. Additionally, we've segmented these webinars into shorter, more digestible clips, ranging from a few minutes to around 15 minutes each. These videos are excellent resources for training new staff and providing existing staff with refreshers on any updates or improvements to processes.
