  1. Practicum pediatric health nursing Measurements of child body

  2. Body weight The newborn and infant stage is one of the fastest growth among other age groups. As it gradually decreases and is matched by an increase in the development status (cognitive). The range of child weight at birth is, 2700 4200g.

  3. The increase expected for child weight divided to: -less than one year. -more than one year. So, because of the rapid growth during the first year of child life and to identify the accurate increases, the firs year divided to three-part

  4. 1-4 month approximately an increase of 750g for each month. And 5-8 month approximately an increase of 500g for each month. lastly, 9-12 month approximately increase of 250 g for each month. with daily increase approximate 20-25g only.

  5. While, to find the expected child weight with more than one year, uses the following formula: Age (years) x 2 + 8

  6. Body length (height) At birth, the length of infant is 48-52cm. The first year divided into two part The first six months the body length increase 2.5cm for each month, while the second six month increase 1.5cm for each month.

  7. While, to child more than year uses the following formula. Age (years) x 5 + 80

  8. Head circumference At birth = 33-35cm First 6 months, increase 1.5cm for each month. Second 6 months, increase 0.5cm foe each month. The growth of head circumference give indicator for cognitive status.

  9. Chest circumference The chest circumference at birth usually less than of head circumference with 2 cm to facilities the labor process. become equal with head circumference at more than one year of infant age.
