  6. Y Byrddau Arholi / Boards of Examiners To attend the Board of Examiners meeting (6: 33). Schools hold a Mitigating circumstances board and may hold an Internal board prior to the main board that confirms the awards Scrutinize scripts disagreement on marks should normally be resolved before (6: 38) Advise on the comparability of standards? If incomparable, suggest reasonable adjustment to module marks? To sign the Confirmation of Results Process Form (CORP) (6: 44) External Examiner s Report (6: 30, 54-61) within one month In some cases oral comments will be used for the first draft of Annual Review and Development Plans

  7. Modiwlau / Modules Core modules must be passed Compulsory must be taken but can be compensated Optional can be compensated Elective taken in year 2, can be compensated, not included in the determination of degree classification Modules taught across levels different outcomes and assessments 7

  10. Ystyriaeth o fewn yr Ysgol / Consideration at School level QAVU reads each External Examiner report on arrival. Copies are sent to the Head of School. Reports made available to Programme Directors Reports considered within school- level committees Reports are made available to students No individuals should be named 10

Materion sylweddol / Resolving Major Issues Reports raising major issues are sent immediately to the Head of Quality Assurance (a) resourcing issues are brought to the attention of the PVC Education & Student Experience / Executive (b) meetings with the School to discuss and agree a plan of action (c) External Examiner informed of actions and outcomes. 11

  12. Adrodd yn fewnol / Internal reporting All reports are summarised and presented to the T&L Strategy Group or equivalent. Reports with major issues are considered individually by the T&L Strategy Group. T&L Strategy Group ensures closure on all matters. Letters are sent to External Examiners detailing the actions taken. Some schools will send a copy of their Annual Review and Development Plan (QA1). 12

  13. Arolwg Cwrs Blynyddol / Annual Review of Courses Every course is also required to address matters raised by External Examiners in their Annual Review and Development Plans (QA1 Form). Signed off by Heads of School and College DTLs. Read by QAVU QA1s are also studied by the T&L Strategy Group or equivalent to ensure all matters are considered and closed satisfactorily. 13

  14. External examiner reports NSS, PTES and other surveys Module evaluations Programme review Staff Self- reflection Staff-student committee and other feedback Professional body reports Student performance 14

  15. Awgrymiadau / Suggestions Take a look at the regulations Check Blackboard regularly Feel free to make suggestions Informal channels may be appropriate in some cases.
