  2. Different Migration routes and needs in ITALY Since Summer 2022 launch of PoM Project - Landings point --> Roccella IONICA, Calabria. - Borders point ---> Ventimiglia, Liguria. MAIN PRIORITIES Intercept the largest number of people arriving from the main migration routes: at landing points, at first reception centers and at the northern borders; monitor the needs of the population and intervene in a timely manner; de-seasonalize and structure the response; witness and document the human consequences of migration policies; adapt the intervention and the geographical coverage in a flexible way according to the evolution of the context.

Calabria Calabria Landings Landings - - Overview Overview 78 landings, 7023 migrants Roccella Ionica 55 landings, 5335 migrants 71% of the landings comes from Turkey, the others from Libya and Lebanon The average duration of the crossing is equal to 5,8 days Most arrivals in September (1870 migrants) 3025 ADULT MEN 542 ADULT WOMEN 1322 MINORS, 474 UAM 1266 NOT SPECIFIED

  4. OPS-MED STRATEGY

Northern Borders and migration route to northern Europe Focus on triage and first medical assistance for migrants transiting and intercepted at the main transit points (Ventimiglia): triage, identification and care of the most acute and severe medical cases, identification of people with special needs Italy medical follow up on patients flagged by MSF teams at landings as well as by SAR vessels. To ensure continuity of care, MSF will provide medical follow-up to vulnerable cases identified by rescue vessels, to those flagged by MSF teams during activities at the landings and first reception centres Landing and first assistance centers Triage and first medical assistance, medevacs in case of red codes, screening of vulnerability, identification of medical and mental health needs, follow up when needed

IDENTIFICATION OF VULNERABILITIES Provide immediate care for people with acute vulnerabilities Ensure proper reception accommodation and services, based on vulnerability for people willing to remain in Italy Ensure that people with chronic disease willing to remain in Italy, enter in the proper health care service vulnerable people willing to stay in Italy enter in the dedicated reception system an/or enter in the dedicated health care service

ROCCELLA IONICA A primary health care service for identification of medical and MH vulnerabilities is present, available and accessible in the main hubs for newly arrived migrants in Italy, for referral and medical follow up ENTRY POINTS ENTRY POINTS Primary Health Care and triage Identification and first assistance of people with medical vulnerabilities Psychological First Aid Mental health support and/or group sessions Referrals to local services. Vulnerability follow up flagged by MSF and SAR vessel team. Socio-legal orientation Intercultural mediation

  8. VENTIMIGLIA A mobile clinic is present and accessible along the Northern borders for migrants out of reception system transiting to other European Countries, for primary health care assistance and identification of medical conditions. NORTHER BORDERS NORTHER BORDERS MSF team composed by a team of Medical and non medical Primary health care and referral of acute medical cases to local health authorities Identification and first assistance of people with medical vulnerabilities Psychological First Aid Intercultural mediation Socio-legal orientation Support to CSOs Monitoring of trends on migration routes
