  1. Subject: Phonics Year Group:1 Week Commencing:11/5/20 Phonics play login: For subject information, games and activities to support this planning, please also look on the Help your child with English document saved on the class page.

  2. Date:11/5/20 Lesson Objective: We are practising using and applying the split digraph u-e Activity: Recap all sounds in your phonics folder- make it a quick recall! Practise reading the red warning words on Task 1 sheet. Can you put any of these words into a sentence? Explain we are thinking about the split digraph u-e huge brute . Remind children that a split digraph is a digraph that has to be split up because it is so cheeky. We split up the digraph by putting another sound in the middle. Look at u-e PowerPoint to practise decoding words using the u-e sound. Practice decoding words with the u-e sound on Task 1. Remember to put in your sound buttons. The first word has already been done to remind you. Play Buried Treasure sorting real and nonsense words. Select Phase 5 and u-e sound. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/member-only/BuriedTreasure2.html Practise finding and writing words using the u-e sound on Task 1.

Activity: Recap all sounds using Phonics Play Flashcard game- https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/member- only/FlashcardsTC.html or or recap sounds from your phonics folder. Practise reading red warning word list 8 on Task Sheet 2 Explain we are thinking about the split digraph e-e extreme Pete - What letters do we find in this split digraph? Remind children that a split digraph is a digraph that has to be split up because it is so cheeky. We split up the digraph by putting another sound in the middle. Look at e-e PowerPoint to practise decoding words with the e-e sound. Children to complete the real and nonsense word activity in Task 2. Choose 2 colours and colour in all the real words in one colour and all the nonsense words in another colour. Children to write 4 words that include the e-e sound. Words Pete, swede, delete, compete Pete, swede, delete, compete Children to pick one of the words they have written. Can they write a sentence using their chosen word?

Explain we are recapping the red warning words little , one do when what out Practice spelling these red warning words - we can t sound these words out. Can you write each word 3 times? Can you write one of these words into a sentence? Can you practice joining your writing? Decode and read the sentences including the four red warning words for today on Task 3 sheet.

Practise decoding words using split digraphs on Split digraph recap Thursday PowerPoint. Practise decoding words playing Read and Race on Task Sheet 4. Children to write 5 words that use split digraphs. Remember to use your spelling toolkit to help you. Say the word, robot talk it, put it on your fingers, write it and read it back. Words: cake, swede, smile, home, cube Words: cake, swede, smile, home, cube Pick one of the words you have written. Can you write it in a sentence?
