Where to begin? Two plans to consider: 1. Graduation Plan Use the Course Planning Worksheet 2. Career Training Plan College, university, technical training requirements Can use www.myblueprint.ca or www.educationplannerbc.ca These two plans may have very different course requirements!
French Immersion Dual Dogwood Requirements
The following provincial assessments are required for graduation: Numeracy 10 Literacy 10 Literary 12 French Literacy 12 (French Immersion) Achievement Level 1-4 will appear on the official school transcript. 3 attempts to write are allowed.
Now to make your course picks for Gr 11 Here are a few things to think about as you plan for your grade 11 year....
Which English course should I take? Students must select an English 11 course. Creative Writing 11 Literary Studies 11 New Media 11 English First Peoples Literary Studies 11 You can also take more than one if you really enjoy English!
Which Social Studies course should I take? Students must select at least one Social Studies 11 or 12 course for graduation can take more than one for interest/elective choices Explorations in Social Studies 11 Explorations Sciences Humaines 11 (French Immersion) Political Studies 12 BC First Peoples 12 20th Century History 12 Law Studies 12 Comparative Cultures 12 Contemporary Indigenous Studies 12
Which Science course should I take? Grade 11 Sciences: Chemistry 11 Earth Science 11 Life Sciences 11 Physics 11 Science for Citizens 11
other Science options: Students can also take more than one Science course, or a Grade 12 level course: Grade 12 Sciences: Anatomy & Physiology 12 Chemistry 12 * Geology 12 Physics 12 * Health Sciences 12 (elective only) * Higher degree of difficulty. Complete grade 11 course first.
Which Math course should I take? Workplace Math 11 Designed for the workforce and most trades (electrical requires Pre-Calc 11) Foundations of Math 11 Designed for college, university, or technical programs that do not require calculus. Pre-Calculus 11 Designed for college, university, or technical programs that require calculus. Each course will meet your Graduation Requirement. Take the math that you are BEST at and interested in. You can always take more math if needed!
Indigenous Focused Grad Credit English First Peoples Literary Studies 11 English First Peoples Literary Studies 12 BC First Peoples 12 (Social Studies) Contemporary Indigenous Studies 12 (Social Studies)
Second Languages: Students may want to continue on with a Second Language at the grade 11/12 level: Spanish 11 French 11 Japanese 11 * A Second Language could be required for entrance into a specific university degree program or be part of degree program once at university.
There are SO MANY great courses students can select as one of their elective options in grades 11 and 12. Refer to the online Course Catalogue to review all of our course offerings, including course descriptions.
Make the most of your high school experience! Get involved! Volunteer at school or in the community! Join Yearbook, Leadership, Athletic Leadership or a school sports team or club!

Course Planning review Make sure that you have selected at least 8 courses, including: an English 11 or English First Peoples 11 a Social Studies 11 or 12 or Sciences Humaines 11 a Science 11 or 12 a Math 11 Francais Langue 11 plus at least 3 or 4 other elective choices (courses you are interested in, or need to take for the future) Remember! You also need 1 Indigenous Studies Course and 1 Fine Art or Applied Skills Course (at any grade level) plus 2 alternate electives (just in case you don t get into one of your 4 elective choices)
