Some courses earn dual credit through PNW. List of required classes in printed packet. See Mrs. Kristan Reed for more information.

  21. ADMISSION TO INDIANA 4-YEAR COLLEGES A Core 40 diploma is the minimum requirement. Many colleges require 2 years of a World Language and 7 or 8 semesters of math. (Example: Purdue West Lafayette, IUB) Some schools will evaluate you based upon your Core GPA (English, Math, Science, Social Studies). SAT or ACT scores are also considered.

  22. SUMMER SCHOOL Enrollment is after Spring Break through Student Services Ancient History Modern History Health & Wellness PCC PE I Failures in English/Math Strict Attendance Dates to be determined

  23. Your 4-Year Plan Helps you to map out high school courses. Keeps you on track. Shows where you have room for electives and when required classes must be taken.

  24. FILLING OUT FRESHMAN YEAR Enter any high school credits from middle school or summer school classes that you took before this year. Enter your freshman schedule under the Freshman Year section. Current classes will go under Semester 1. Next semester s classes will go under Semester 2. If you intend to take summer school after this school year, you will enter that below Freshman Year.

  25. HOW TO CREATE YOUR 4 YEAR PLAN Indicate which Diploma Type you are pursuing. This helps us to determine if you are on track for graduation. If you are unsure, plan for the Core 40 Diploma. Work through each subject area, deciding which classes you will use to fulfill your Graduation Requirements: English Social Studies Math World Language Science Electives PCC Health Personal Finance (new requirement) Fill in any classes you are intending to take in Summer School. When entering classes into the form: classes listed in two boxes are 2 semesters, classes listed in only one box are only 1 semester classes. PE 1 / PE II

  26. PLANNING FOR SOPHOMORE YEAR Start with Core classes use the yellow Required Courses box as a guide for where to begin. Next, add in your PRIORITY CLASSES. (Ex: Band, Choir, Orchestra, Study Hall, Weights, or a Pathway class) Students usually take PCC and Health in 10th grade. All students in the Class of 2028 must also take Personal Finance before graduation. Lastly, add in other electives.

  27. DETERMINING NEXT CORE CLASSES English 10th grade: Choose either Eng 10 OR AP Seminar 11th grade: Choose either English 11 or AP Language and Comp 12th grade: Choose either Comp/World Literature or AP Literature Math Algebra 1 Geometry or Pre-AP Geometry Geometry Algebra II or Pre-AP Algebra II Algebra II Trigonometry/Probability and Statistics, Pre-Calculus or AP Statistics Pre-Calculus AP Statistics, Calculus AB, Calculus BC PE If you will not be completing your required PE credits this year, it would be wise to complete those sophomore year.

  28. CORE CLASSES (CONTINUED) Science All diplomas require Biology and at least ONE of the following: Chemistry Physics ICP (Integrated Chem/Phys) If you are currently in Earth Space Science, you should take Biology next year if you have not already. Social Studies If you are scheduled to complete your Ancient and Modern World History classes or have already earned those credits, you are not required to enter a social studies class for next year. Each diploma only requires 3 years of social studies. Pre-AP World History also covers these credits.

  29. COMPLETING YOUR 4 YEAR PLAN Make sure class selections match your Diploma Type: For Academic Honors, World Language and Fine Arts are REQUIRED! 3 years of one world language or 2 years of one and 2 years of another 2 Credits in Fine Arts classes For Technical Honors, you must take a pathway of classes that results in Dual Credit These include Business, Engineering or the ACC. Enter additional elective classes that are: INTERESTING TO YOU and ALIGN WITH YOUR FUTURE CAREER or MAJOR. Sampling these classes while in high school not only looks good on college applications, but also allows you to make sure this is an area you would be interested in pursuing a career in later.

  30. 4-YEAR PLAN GUIDE Use this sheet to help you find the courses you need or want to take by subject area. The courses in yellow are required- they must appear somewhere in your 4-year plan All other classes are your choice!

Start thinking about how you will meet the Box 2 & 3 Requirements for GRADUATION! Don t worry if you don t have anything for this section! You can list any careers that might sound interesting.

Please have your parents/guardians reply to your counselor s follow-up email with their approval, questions, or changes. Changes may be made until February 28th
