Examples of healing John 5:2-9 "Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed...
Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, Do you want to be made well? ...Jesus said to him, Rise, take up your bed and walk.
Matthew 8:16,17 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Greek: Astheneia infirmity, weakness, lack of strength, frailty, feebleness, sickness of the soul, lack of capacity.
Four sources from which we get our self concept. 1. The outer world around us. 2. The inner world within us. 3. The satanic world beneath us. 4. The spiritual world above us
Results of Infirmities 1. Low self worth will paralyze your potential. will destroy your dreams. will destroy your relationships. sabotages your Christian service.
Results of Infirmities 2. Perfectionism 3. Super sensitivity 4. Fear 5. Anger
Gods provision for the healing of damaged emotions
1. A Loving Father You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book? Psalm 56:8
2. An Empathetic Savior For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:15;5:7)
3. An interceding Spirit In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Romans 8:26
Counselors comments In the cross, God demonstrated his total identification with us in our undeserved suffering, as well as in our deserved punishment. P.T. Forsythe, The Justification of God
The fact that God not only knows and cares, but fully understands is the most therapeutic factor in the healing of our damaged emotions. - David Seamands
Our Role in Healing Healing begins when we make the choice to forgive from our hearts those who have hurt us
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32
Your freedom and healing largely rest on how you respond to God s call to forgive.
Will you extend the same undeserved mercy and grace to others that God gave to you?
