  3. Health and Safety Authority Established in 1989 under Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 1989: Continuation under 2005 Act. Functions: S34 SHWWA 2005: - promote, encourage, foster, prevention of accidents, Information, education, training, co-operation, research, strategy, POW, enforcement, monitor, evaluate, recommendations to minister. Verbal advice, Written advice, improvement notice, prohibition notice, investigations and special reports, order of High Court

  5. Directives, Regulations, Guidance EU Issue Directive - MS must transpose into national law MS Transposes into Regulations - Directive is the Min standard to be Achieved - Consults with stakeholders MS (HSA) May support with guidance

Fire Risk - Role of HSA Risk Assessment - Risk of fire identified process /accidental - Control measures identified General application Regs 1993 - Regulation 17 & Schedules - Doors & Gates, Protection equipment, - Emergency routes General Application Regs 2007 - Regulation 12 & 13 - very specific
