CALICUT HERITAGE FORUM (CHF) CHF was formed in January 2008 as an informal informal body of people who love Calicut who love Calicut and want to ensure that the history this fascinating cultural cauldron is preserved is preserved for posterity. 2008 history of 2 2
PRESERVATION PROFESSIONAL HELP DOCUMENTATION To identify, evaluate, document and digitize such objects and symbols like buildings, monuments, artefacts, documents, photographs, oral traditions etc. Preservation and protection of the objects and symbols that embody the history and culture of Calicut To seek professional advice and assistance in preservation and documentation. AIMS TOURS REGULATIONS/ NEW DEVELOPMENTS SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY To design and promote heritage tours of Calicut and its environs To facilitate the preparation of guidelines on impact assessment of new building activities on heritage buildings and sites; To create a sense of awareness and belonging for the city s heritage among the local community - and among students in particular - and thereby generate social responsibility for their preservation To canvas support for adopting heritage regulations and preparation of a heritage manual

Krishna Ayyar Lecture on 3rd November of every year. Features articles on the history and heritage of Calicut. We award the annual Prof. K.V. Krishna Ayyar scholarship to a researcher (M.Phil or Ph.D) who specialises in some aspect of the history of Kerala/ Calicut. CHF conducts monthly meetings where eminent speakers lecture on selected topics. Archived proceedings are available online.
