Introduction / background This document presents the Primary Care digital strategy for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Created in conjunction with and linking to the ICS plans and priorities especially the DAIT and Primary care strategies Created in collaboration with various key stakeholders in Primary Care including clinicians 6 Strategic aims set out the vision for Primary Care IT for the next 5 years

Where are we now The previous 5 years of the IM&T strategy have seen huge changes in the capabilities of digital systems, the rise of digital access and patients ability to see and interact with medical records The COVID pandemic has accelerated the way care is delivered with a move away from clinic room based face to face consultations to an offer of video or online consultation Changes to the procurement mechanism for Primary Care clinical systems and the rise of primary care networks has seen fundamental changes to the funding structures, support required and opportunity for at scale working Advances in population health management through enhanced analytics and data sharing has meant the patient care can now be proactive more than ever and technology has had to change with it IT infrastructure has evolved with the rise of virtual machines and cloud based technologies and software such as Microsoft Teams has increased the burden on the existing hardware The need to protect systems and data from cyber threats has increased significantly since the publication of the previous strategy and we must guard against these

Vision Where patients choose, they should: Be enabled to be proactive in input into their care Be able to view their shared health record Be able to interface digitally with Primary Care Primary Care must: Have the systems and services needed to deliver optimal care to patients from any care setting with access to the right information Be assured that systems and services are safe, resilient and fit for purpose Be able to extract full benefit from IT systems and services Have the ability to collaborate on the IT requirements

  5. Delivery Individual projects and schemes of work will have a direct link to one or more of the strategic aims and objectives set out in this strategy. These programmes of work will define and measure: Benefits (both required and delivered) Individual metrics (where required) Progress Funding

Workforce Development Developing staff across primary care and the ICS in respect to IT skills and clinical system use ICS requirements for primary care clinical systems and local approach to procurement Ensuring suitable, secure, compliant infrastructure that meet national and local standards and specifications Primary cares approach to Data, Analytics, Information and Technology in conjunction with the ICS overarching DAIT strategy Financial planning for IT and ambition to increase collaboration and choice on GP IT spend Enabling patients to self-manage their own health needs, improving access to services through the use of technology and improving health outcomes through access to information.
