Purpose of Grant LEAs will have the opportunity to Identify strong principal candidates from among current staff Partner with effective EPP Design and implement a year-long, full-residency in partnership with EPP 3
Applicant Eligibility and Structure LEA = School District LEAs with at least one campus labeled Improvement Required per the 2018 Accountability Ratings and/or with at least one campus labeled Targeted, Additional Targeted, or Comprehensive per the 2018 2019 Title I Status. Eligibility List is available under Principal Prep Grant in TEA s Grant Opportunities Shared services arrangements (SSAs) are not allowed An LEA should apply on its own LEA cannot submit more than one application 4
Funding per LEA Up to $70,000 per principal resident Grant will fund a maximum of 10 principal residents per LEA LEA = School District LEA matches $15,000 per resident Funding Request per LEA # of principal residents $70,000 5
Needs Assessment Application Things to Consider: List up to three quantifiable needs, as identified in your needs assessment, that the program funds will address. Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment to identify needs. Data sources to inform needs might include: # of principal vacancies per year # of applications per principal vacancy Diversity of the instructional leadership staff in relation to the diversity of the student population Describe your plan for addressing each need. The plan should directly align with the identified need. 6
Measurable Goals and Progress Application Identify up to three benchmarks, both for processes and implementation of the grant. Things to Consider: SMART goal should align with purpose of the grant, rather than student outcomes Describe the summative SMART goal you have identified for this program that is consistent with the purpose of the grant. Align SMART goal and benchmarks to Performance Measures outlined in the Principal Preparation Program Guidelines 7
Project Evaluation and Modification Application Describe how you will use project evaluation data to determine when and how to modify your program. Things to Consider: How will you collect the required data? What process will you implement to make adjustments to the plan as necessary? If your benchmarks or summative SMART goals do not show progress, describe how you will use evaluation data to modify your program for sustainability. Refer to Performance Measures outlined in the Principal Preparation Program Guidelines 8
Program Requirements Application 1) Description of systematic and informed targeted recruitment and selection process for principal residents 2) Description of sustained and rigorous clinical learning in an authentic school setting and substantial leadership responsibilities Describe your plan for the implementation of the Principal Preparation program including Resident s Recruitment and Selection Resident s Clinical Learning 9
Program Requirements Application 3) If applicable, provide description of school actions Describe your plan for the implementation of the Principal Preparation program including School Actions a. LEA has created an Innovation or Transformation Office and that office is led by a full-time equivalent b. LEA has developed systematic processes to design and launch new or redesign schools, as evidenced by a public Call for Quality Schools or some similar process that has occurred or will occur within the next six months. c. LEA has pursued school actions, including: i. Creating a new school, as defined by replacing both school leadership and at least 50% of instructional staff, and instituting a new academic model, such as the Accelerating Campus Excellence model ii. Implementing a Subchapter C charter school or 1882 partnership school iii. Closing a campus d. LEA has created an Innovation or Transformation Zone to plan and execute school actions in groups of schools. ***Check Not Applicable on application is the LEA has not implemented any of these school actions*** 10
Program Requirements Application 4) Description of Data-Driven Instruction systems currently implemented at campus level and complete the Leverage Leadership Readiness Assessment: Data-Driven Instruction provided in Attachment 1. Describe your plan for the implementation of the Principal Preparation program including Data-Driven Instruction Systems Observation and Feedback Systems 5) Description of Observation and Feedback systems currently implemented at campus level and complete the Leverage Leadership Assessment: Observation and Feedback provided in Attachment 1. 11
