The PRIViLEDGE project focuses on developing cryptographic technologies for privacy protection in distributed ledger systems. It involves high-value use cases like verifiable voting and insurance ledgers, with objectives to preserve user privacy, validate toolkits, and deploy solutions in real-world scenarios. The project aims to align research outcomes with real-world scenarios and generate new solutions through use case requirements and research results.

  3. PRIViLEDGE WP Introduction WP1 involves four high-value use cases (UC) that will showcase the methodology of PRIViLEDGE for developing cryptographic technologies for the protection of privacy in systems based on distributed ledgers: 1. Verifiable online voting with ledgers 2. Distributed ledger for insurance 3. University diploma record ledger 4. Cardano stake-based ledger vv 3

  4. PRIViLEDGE WP Objectives Preserve user privacy in all use cases by applying the techniques and protocols developed in WP2 and WP3. Validate the toolkits and prototypes created in WP4. Deploy the developed solutions in real-world scenarios. vv 4

  8. PRIViLEDGE Work Package Alignment: The Goals Although a RIA project, RRIViLEDGE attempts to weave the research outcomes with real world scenarios, and demonstrate how these can generate new types of solutions. vv Main Alignment Threads: Use cases requirements: to steer research performed in the project. Research results: to feed the ideation process of the use case design. 8

  9. PRIViLEDGE Work Package Alignment: The Platform In the PRIViLEDGE project, four real world scenarios (use cases) along with six toolkits provide the realization platform of the research results. USE CASES (4) eVoting Insurance University diplomas Cardano stake-based ledger TOOLKITS (6) Anonymous Authentication Flexible Consensus Post Quantum Security Zero-Knowledge Proofs Multi-Party Computation Storage API for DLTs vv 9

  10. PRIViLEDGE Work Package Alignment: The Methodology Reach common understanding across partners and work packages. Articulate functional, non-functional, and integration requirements via W1.1. Iterative process, with multiple checkpoints: Bi-weekly project alignment meeting Multiple ad-hoc calls per topic Daunting W1.1 drafting period (*) Upgrade W1.1 internal report to deliverable. vv 10 * not part of the methodology

  11. PRIViLEDGE Work Package Alignment: The Working Groups Having identified a list of problems to tackle, four Working Groups were formed comprised of the use case owner, and research partners selected based on the expertise required. vv Research Partner Use Case Owner Contributing Research Partner UNISA, IBM UC1 eVoting SCCEIV UT UC2 Insurance GT TUE UT, UNISA UC3 Diplomas GRNET,GUNET UNISA UEDIN UC4 Cardano IOHK UEDIN IBM 11

  14. PRIViLEDGE Work Package Alignment: Workstreams Overview (1/4) UC1: Verifiable Online Voting with Ledgers The aim is threefold: 1.Leverage Anonymous Authentication toolkit to allow re-voting, while preventing double voting 2.Define the consensus of each involved party (voters, auditors, managers, etc) leveraging the Flexible Consensus toolkit 3.Provide a formal security definition of Bulletin Boards in eVoting vv Supporting research partners: UT, IBM, UNISA. 14

  15. PRIViLEDGE Work Package Alignment: Workstreams Overview (2/4) UC2: Distributed Ledger for Insurance The aim is to build and select ZKP and/or MPC protocols and data encodings that would allow all three required proofs Append-only nature of patient records Integrity of transferred patient records Consistency of aggregate reports to be generated and verified efficiently. vv Supporting research partners: TUE, UT, UNISA. 15

  16. PRIViLEDGE Work Package Alignment: Workstreams Overview (3/4) UC3: University Diploma Record Ledger Abstract the security properties of the protocol to suggest appropriate privacy enhancing crypto primitives to incorporate. Investigate DID and SSID technologies. vv Supporting research partners: UNISA, UEDIN. 16

  17. PRIViLEDGE Work Package Alignment: Worksteams Overview (4/4) UC4: Cardano Stake-based Ledger Currently the focus is on: Voting protocol Facilitation of the acceptance or rejection of a software proposal delegation protocol for voting Mining The consensus mechanism to be used vv Supporting research partners: UEDIN, IBM. 17

  18. PRIViLEDGE Next Steps: T1.2: Research Alignment and Continuous Assessment Ensure the effective cooperation between WP2 and WP4 and the use case partners. T1.3 (M28 ): Validation Ensure the systems produced in WP4 are close to production level. vv 18
