HOW WE WORK HOW WE WORK We are a clearing house that provides legal representation to ordinary people who approach us with their problems. Our mandate allows us to help clients with their everyday problems. We run help desks for clients where they can consult with qualified attorneys from local law firms. In urgent cases, our in-house staff attorneys consult with clients. THE OBLIGATION ON PARTICIPATING FIRMS THE OBLIGATION ON PARTICIPATING FIRMS Our purpose as an organisation is: To improve access to justice. For effective service to the poor, law firms send professionals who are experts in their fields for our help desks. We rely hugely on the skills and resources of private law firms in order to function.

Labour Law Labour Law We provide legal advice / assistance on: Unfair dismissals; Retrenchments; Provident Fund issues: Unfair labour practices etc.
Housing Clinic Housing Clinic We assist clients with housing-related issues, including: Ownership disputes Effecting property transfers linked to a deceased estate Challenging unlawful evictions or landlord s disruptions of utility services Assistance with landlord/tenant disputes
Masters Office Help Desk Masters Office Help Desk We assists with estates valued at under R250,000 valued at under R250,000. Attorneys provide once-off advice relating to: Duties of executors The procedure that needs to be followed to wind up a deceased estate Advice on the rules relating to intestate succession.
Divorce Help Desk Divorce Help Desk Attorneys provide clients with: General advice Assistance with filling of documents Assisting parties to draft parenting plans Divorces, including settlements Mediation Maintenance Protection Orders
Seminars Seminars We organise community seminars / webinars which are presented by legal practitioners. Webinars Webinars We organise seminars / webinars for legal practitioners on our panel, which are presented by experts in the field. Wills Project Wills Project These sessions are arranged for the elderly who cannot afford to pay an attorney. Sessions are held at hospices and old-age homes. We explain the importance of a Will and draft Wills for those who request one. NGO/ NPO Project NGO/ NPO Project ProBono.Org assists NGO s and NPO s with their legal needs.
VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME We offer a volunteer programme whereby LLB students from the 3rd year of their studies or further are able to gain work experience with us. The programme runs throughout the year and volunteers are required to be with us for a minimum of 3 weeks. We are not currently able to accommodate students at this time due to the pandemic and social distancing requirements. However, so soon as lockdown eases, we will re- commence with our volunteer programme.
