What is Castor ? Castor is a database hosted by ERN-Rare Liver (Hamburg) The data management is ensured by ERN (not depending on Valdig fundings) Everybody can put data into Castor (you do not have to be neither an ERN member, nor even European)
Databases : what has been decided? One unique database for Valcular liver diseases Adults and Children CASTOR VALDIREG French database Spanish database RedCap Objective : 1 common database =>large collaborative studies feasible =>we will not need to complete excel files, merge different files ;
What is the process to put data into Castor? What do you need? 1. Ethics committe approval for registry : mandatory If not done yet, you will have to do it anyway templates from France or Netherlands can be used if needed if possible mention biological collection in the EC 2. Data transfer agreement : signed by your institution template on ERN and VALDIG Website needed
What is the process to put data into Castor? Once you have these 2 documents, you can contact the data managers of Castor Cristian Casar c.casar@uke.de Felix Braun fe.braun@uke.de They will send you login details
Process to perform studies using Castor Everyone can perform a study (even those who do not put data into the database) Everyone can ask for extraction of his/her data (simple email) if he/she wants to perform a single-center study
1. Approval of VALDIG scientific committe Scientific relevance of the study Discussion of the data collected before conducting the study Coordination to avoid redundance New study idea on Vascular liver diseases 2. The PI contacts the data manager of Castor to get number and location of patients meeting inclusion criteria Cristian Casar c.casar@uke.de Felix Braun fe.braun@uke.de 3. The PI contacts centers Approval to participate (email is enough) Inform on supplementary datas to collect 4. The data are transfered (excel file)
