  6. NHS Lothians pledge to be an inclusive organisation 1. Equality and human rights is central to our work 2. We are an anti-racist organisation 3. We meet the needs of disabled people 4. We are a gender inclusive organisation 5. People who may lack capacity can participate in decision-making 6. Our staff are educated, supported and valued

  7. Why do we have protected group of people ? In the Equality Act 2010, nine characteristics were identified as 'protected characteristics'. These are the characteristics where evidence shows there is still significant discrimination in employment, provision of goods and services and access to services such as education and health Can you name the nine protected characteristics?

  8. Protected characteristics Age, Disability, Gender reassignment, Marriage and civil partnership, Pregnancy and maternity, Race, Religion or belief, Sex, Sexual orientation
