Changing Direction of Food and Agricultural Products Development: Socioeconomic Transformation Two main issues of food and agricultural production during the National Economic and Social Development Plan A risk for maintaining food security and food safety Low value added in agricultural products The Changing Global Context - An increased of global population and being ageing society - Moving to the trend of healthy food and agricultural goods consumption - Adverse effects of climate change impacts and natural disasters - The pattern of the world trade regulations, investments, and non-tariff measurement Six potential product clusters in the future (1) Products from sustainable production (2) Food safety products which are free from all types of food hazard (3) Food for urbanization changes (4) Products for ageing society (5) Products produced for reducing food shortage (6) Products mitigating impacts of climate changes 2 Source: NESDB

  3. The collaboration on Agri. Products and food in ASEAN: Socioeconomic Transformation Collaboration on natural resource and environment, including with the food safety control that are the measures of ASEAN Blueprints 2015. These measures are also under the ASEAN Blueprints 2525, emphazing on Building the standards or regulations which are international acceptance in order to create the standards of environment and food safety for ASEAN. The objective are promoting the standard of living, conserving the natural resource and utilizing resource sustainably. Singapore - Making the confidence to the farmers that the land will be available for Agri. Production by supporting the technology and innovation in farming and the vertical farming becomes popular. - Agri. Products are more satisfied by the urban society. The consumers want safety and no residual products. - The majority of import products are organic and food safety that response to the domestic demand. Vietnam -Launched the policy of levelling up the quality and food safety and promoting the organic farming - There is a growth of quality agri. products - The strategy of branding image for Vietnam products was planned Malaysia - Importing agri. Products have to be passed the Licenses from Food Safety and Quality Control Division, Ministry of Health that relies on Codex 3

  4. Examples of Thailand's environmentally friendly agriculture and food development: National Policy Formulation friendly in the 12th NESDB Plan. (2) National Strategy (1) The Promotion and Development of Sustainable Agriculture System Committee [with Regulation of the Prime Minister's Office on Promotion and Development of Sustainable Agriculture System] The committee s Responsibility: (1) formulating polices (2) issuing law related to sustainable agriculture (3) coordinating with related agencies and promoting sustainable agriculture development in Thailand. (2) The Sustainable Agriculture Policy Committee The committee s Responsibility: (1) considering the policy guideline of promoting and developing sustainable agriculture, law and all of obstacles, and (2) establishing a sustainable agricultural committee (1) The National Organic Development Committee The committee s Responsibility: (1) formulating national policies, (2) making strategies to drive organic agriculture development, guidelines, measures, plans and budgets with relevant government agencies (2) The 2nd National Organic Agriculture Development Strategy (2017-2021) [the Cabinet approved the strategy on April 11, 2017] Vision: Thailand is a regional leader in the production, consumption, trade, and service of organic agriculture. (3) The promotion of organic standards in the ASEAN since 2014 At this time, ASEAN organic standard is under the accreditation in all country members.
