Open Data Albania Promoting Transparency through Data The project aims to collect from public offices data on socio- economic indicators, process and publish them based on emerging semantic technologies. o Duration: Dec. 2010-Nov. 2014 o Modules: o Linked Open Data o Open Spending o Open Data in Classroom: Hackathons
Motivation o Extend the lifetime of data made available by government offices, preservation o Draw attention to socio-economic aspects through the use of data o Offer tools to increase the usability of these data o Support individuals or NGOs involved in advocacy 6
Target Audience o Media o Civil Society Organizations o Academia o Web Activists ... All the above are seen as an amplifier to reach citizens with data and knowledge 7
Open Spending Absence of transparency and civic engagement in public finances poses a great risk of ongoing corruption, failure and regulatory abuse.
