What Happens If You Become A Victim Of Fraud Or Identity Theft Don t be too embarrassed these things happen to many people and the suspects aregood at what they do - That s why they do it Call your financial institutions if your accounts were compromised changeaccounts/block phone numbers/change passwords - you may need to have a computer serviced by a reputable company. Contact your local Police/Sheriff s Department. Check your credit report-Each year you may receive 1 free credit report from each of the 3 credit reporting agencies (TransUnion, Equifax or Experian). Upon receipt, check for unauthorized accounts, inquiries and unknown addresses. - ftc.gov File a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) This is run by the FBI and focuses solely on cyber crime. - ic3.gov
