Pyramid Power
Delve into the art of constructing 3-dimensional forms using geometric shapes like pyramids, cubes, prisms, and more. Explore the combination of 2-dimensional shapes to create solid forms, as showcased through Egyptian sculptures and various pyramid examples. Unveil the essence of form as a vital element in artistic expression, understanding the interplay of length, width, and height in shaping these intricate structures.

Pyramid Power Using Geometric Shapes to Build 3-Dimensional Forms (solids)
Big Idea! Form is the Element of Art that has to do with 3 Dimensions.
In this lesson, you will learn how to create a 3 Dimensional Form (solid) by combining 2 Dimensional Shapes.
Geometric Shapes have length and width (2-D) Triangle Square Rectangle Circle Oval Pentagon
3-D Forms (solids) have length, width, and height. Triangular Pyramid Rectangular Pyramid Square Pyramid Cube Rectangular Prism Triangular Prism
Team Challenge Work as a Team to tape the Shapes together to make one of the Forms (solids) we have learned about.
Clues for using Shapes to create your team s Form A face is a flat surface of a 3 Dimensional Form The Shape (face) at the base of your Form gives the Form (solid) its name. Square Square Pyramid
Clues for using Shapes to create your team s Form Triangular Pyramids have 4 faces. Rectangular Pyramids, Square Pyramids, & Triangular Prisms have 5 faces. Rectangular Prisms and Cubes have 6 faces.
A Net is a 2-dimensional pattern that can be folded into a 3-dimensional Form (solid).
We will trace the Net (pattern) so that you can create your own Egyptian style square pyramid!
