Research Committee: New Initiatives To ensure Faculties are supported in their preparation of impact cases for RAE assessment, two initiatives will be introduced: 1) Allocation of Initial Funding to Faculties for impact cases 2) Strategic Impact Enhancement Fund
Initial Funding to Faculties for Impact Cases 1
Initial Funding to Faculties for Impact Cases Objectives: To support project-based activities directly related to enhancement of demonstrable impacts To ensure sufficient number of impact cases brought to maturity for the RAE assessment within the lead time
Initial Funding to Faculties for Impact Cases (cont) No. of impact cases to be prepared* *Faculties could round up or down to the nearest integer or identify even more cases
Initial Funding to Faculties for Impact Cases (cont) Faculties at their discretion to make sub-allocation to individual impact projects The fund to be used exclusively to support impact-related activities of individual impact cases: collection of evidence, e.g. through surveys, interviews, websites, exhibits and public forums to engage specific target non-academic research users provision of training and expertise to benefit practitioners in the field strategic engagement with industry for conducting trials and/or practical application of research deliverables research assistants to support impact activities equipment and consumables are allowable only if these are essential part in creating impact DOS

Strategic Impact Enhancement Fund (SIEF) 2
SIEF (cont) Objectives: To provide additional and strategic support to high-quality impact cases for realizing potential impact in fullest extent within a two-year timeframe or less To grow more 4* impact cases in the next RAE
SIEF (cont) To provide financial support to a broad range of strategic impact- related activities, including: to further extend and deepen the engagement and collaborations with beneficiaries to boost additional impacts to maximize emerging opportunities DOS to drive swiftly progress to meet the planned milestones to collect corroborating and verifiable evidence to demonstrate sufficiently the significance and reach of impacts claimed to procure professional services to assist with the writing of impact case studies To provide in-kind support, such as professional services from ORKTS, if needed
SIEF (cont) The fund is not intended to support projects at exploratory and initial stages, nor duplicate with other existing knowledge-/technology-transfer related internal funding schemes Faculty s assessment and prioritisation is needed to ensure the maturity and potentiality of the proposed impact cases justifiable for the SIEF strategic support
