Capacity Capacity at the time of re-opening will be limited to 50% After the first four weeks we will re-evaluate and determine if additional numbers of participants can be added Each Consumer will be assigned as either an A week attendee or a B week attendee. ( In Gerneral terms, each day consumer will have the opportunity to attend the day program every other week.) Each Group will alternate with which week they attend (ex. A week will attend the weeks of July 6thand July 20th, B week will attend the weeks of July 13thand July 27th Class rosters will be made available to all staff by 2/26/2021. Consumers and families will be reminded by the end of this week if they are an A attendee or a B attendee.
Residential Consumers Residential Consumers will return on March 1, 2021 with the exception of the Loomis, Terrell, Biles and Muth. These individuals are marked to return on April 5, 2021. Returning residential consumers will attend both A and B weeks Additional activities and limited out of the home activities will be added for those that will continue to receive day services in their residential homes. The Residential Management team will be in touch with family members of Residential consumers to review the schedule, discuss return dates and answer questions.
Day Schedule Each Day Consumer will remain in one group, one classroom for the entirety of the day. Consumer groups will be determined based on which vehicle they ride. Each classroom will have one assigned instructor. Aides will be assigned to one room and moved only as needed. Each classroom will be allocated one bathroom that only will be used by the class. Classrooms will have no more than 15 individuals per room. This includes staff and consumers Rooms will be set up with limited tables and chairs to encourage social distancing in the room. Class schedules will be developed to ensure each class has a variety of enjoyable and educational daily activities that will be engaging to each consumer. Outdoor spaces will be created and utilized to help get consumers out of the building while maintaining distancing from other classroom groups. Medication will be administered in the classroom. Nursing interventions will be done in the classroom if able. Staff will be expected to handle simple interventions. (ex. Band Aid for minor cuts, ice/heat for an arthritic hand etc. )
Outings and Volunteering Out of the building activities will be temporarily suspended. As time progresses and risk factors are reduced, we will look at adding outings that are at outdoor/open venues. Community Volunteering will be temporarily suspended. Notification of outings and volunteering will be sent home and permission requested once these services are re-instituted.
Visitors Non-essential visitors will not be allowed to enter the building during day hours. Team meetings will continue to be held virtually or via phone conference. Meetings needed to conduct on going regular business activities will be held virtually or via phone conference. Staff that are not working in the day program and need to see a member of administration must call or email first. Almost all matters will be handled over the phone or through email.
Virtual Classes Many of you have already taken part of our virtual class. We would like to have all individuals who are able to participate on the weeks when they are not in attendance. For those that aren t able to attend virtually, we will have packets to complete on off weeks for those that are interested. If you would like to receive more information about our virtual classes, please call or email your Program Coordinator
Lunch and Breaks Lunch and Breaks will be held in the classroom or weather permitting, in an outdoor location The cafeteria will be closed for open seating The cafeteria will only make food for lunches only. Breakfast will not be available at this time. Bought Lunches will consist of brown bag lunches (Sandwich, chips, fruit/dessert, drink- all diet restrictions observed). Brown bag lunches allow for easy delivery, one staff preparation and easy clean up. Consumers not wanting to buy lunch, can still bring a bag lunch from home.
Transportation To reduce numbers and allow for social distancing, vehicles will transport at 50% capacity Consumers will be picked up according to which week group they have been Assigned ( A or B group) Example: Consumers riding Tina s van will remain together all day. They will ride in together, go directly to Tina s classroom upon arrival, use only (unless there is an emergency) the bathroom in Tina s room, Lunch and break will be held in the room. The group will then go home together. Prior to loading the vehicle, the driver will take the consumers temperature. If the temperature is 100 degrees or greater the consumer will not be permitted to load the vehicle or attend the day program for the day. The driver will inform nursing of anyone with a temperature over 100 degrees. A member of nursing will follow up with families to discuss next steps. Consumers, are to wear a mask when on the vehicle. As much space as possible will be encouraged between consumers. Only consumers residing in the same home will be permitted to sit together. Dismissal will be by Classroom/van. Consumers will be picked up and dropped off at the entrance nearest to where their classroom is located, (ex. If James van is assigned to APE, they will dropped off and picked up at the door in the rear of the APE Room) Disinfecting of vehicles will occur upon arrival at the center and at the end of the day. Even with reduced capacity, potential exposure is greatest in confined spaces. The safest form of transportation is for you to transport your loved one. However, our vehicles will be running as identified above.
Employment Job Coaching and Employment transportation for those already working will continue as it has currently been running Consumers who usually work a portion of their day and then return to the day program will, until further notice, be taken home once their work day ends. Employment discovery, assistance with job searches, application completion and interviews will resume on an individual comfort level.
Personal Supports Services Personal Supports Services will be offered on an individual comfort level. Personal Supports consumers and families will be contacted by the Personal Supports Team to determine comfort level for the service. Personal Support Hours may be adjusted or temporarily reduced Personal Support activities will be limited to venues where social distancing can be ensured
Mask Use N95Mask wearing will be required by all drivers, direct care staff and administrators when interacting with consumers. Staff that have not been fully vaccinated for COVID 19 will be required to be in full PPE while assisting consumers. (N95 mask, face shield and gown) Mask wearing by consumers IS REQUIRED. Our staff are prepared to assist individuals during the day by reminding, coaching and modeling mask use. To save on our limited supply of masks, we ask that each consumer provide their own reusable or disposable mask. Bayside can assist those without a mask with getting a reusable mask. Please contact your Program Coordinator for assistance. Staff who wish to double mask may do so. Bayside will provide N95 masks to each staff. Additional mask for those who wish to double mask would need to be provided by the staff. Staff and consumers will be required to change/ disinfect masks at the end of each day. For the health and safety of all, if your loved one is sick or has had a potential exposure, please do not send them to Bayside. We have numerous people of all ages and health conditions. We want everyone to be safe and remain healthy.
Education Our staff have already received a multitude of education on COVID- 19, prevention and precautions, how to use personal protective equipment, hand washing, social distancing and how to properly disinfect. Prior to re-opening, all staff working in the day program, drivers and administrative staff will receive additional education and refresher training on the above. All returning consumers, who are able, will receive education on social distancing, hand washing and sanitizing, proper mask wearing.

Exposure to COVID-19 in small group settings is possible, even with the precautions set in place. Exposure in confined locations like a vehicle are especially risky. We encourage each family to evaluate the health and safety needs of their loved one and make the determination if returning is in their best interest. For those that do not wish to return on March 1, 2021, we ask that you take part in either our virtual classes or complete take home packets. Your Program coordinator can assist you with information regarding both. If you have questions, please reach out to your Program Coordinator
